In general, I make them oatmeal with fruit puree mixed in for breakfast, and vegetable (and also sometimes some fruit) puree with a grain for dinner. Breakfast is sometimes supplemented with wheat toast or homemade muffin, and dinner is sometimes supplemented by what they do not finish at lunch! I try to mix things up, but the girls definitely already have some favorites!
I also TRY to make their lunch/ snacks the night before, in a lunch box, so that I can get other things done during their morning nap. I sometimes just put their food in whatever little Tupperware containers I have clean, but I also like to use our Sassy On The Go Feeding Set and Dr. Sears Nibble Tray (shaped like a pineapple--how perfect for two little babies born in Hawaii??).
Here is a selection of the girls' recent lunches/ snacks (and of course, again, sometimes what ends up being part of dinner!):
|Whole wheat pita bread, organic kiwi, organic steamed peas, non-GMO certified soy veggie burger (pre-packaged)|
|Whole wheat pita bread, organic non-GMO certified extra-firm tofu, organic avocado, and hummus in the little side container (from our Laptop Lunches set)|
Organic non-GMO certified extra-firm tofu, mangoes from a friend's tree, organic avocado, whole wheat pita bread and hummus
Whole wheat pita bread and hummus, organic steamed peas, organic pears, organic non-GMO certified extra-firm hummus
Too cute!!! Pineapple lunch box: it just makes me smile :)
Organic non-GMO certified extra-firm tofu, whole wheat pita bread, mangoes, and hummus in the detachable top portion (which you can also stick in the freezer ahead of time to keep that section cool)
I find that making their food the day before really does make me feel like I can get more done during the girls' morning nap (you know, cleaning up their breakfast... showering...), and adds minimal extra work for the evening before.
Which is why I always kick myself for not just making their food at night... ummm... like right now, when I am typing away here rather than making the girls' food for tomorrow... Oh well, you can't win them all :)
